Permissions
Get permission in writing: the landowner signs a simple slip on your phone and gets a PDF copy. Keep their number and a log of your calls, get warned before it runs out, and send them a report of your finds.
Every site whose access is Permission has a Permission card on its page.
Getting it signed
- Open the site from the Sites tab and tap Get it in writing.
- Fill in the landowner’s name (and phone or email if you like), your name, how long it’s good for, and the conditions you’ve agreed: fill every hole, call before coming, not during hunting season, and so on. Add anything else in your own words.
- Tap Hand the phone to…. The owner reads the slip and signs with a finger, then taps Sign.
- Tap Send a copy to text or email them the PDF. Send one to yourself too, as a backup.
The slip shows the property’s outline, its size and location, the dates, the conditions and the signature. It’s saved with the site on your phone and is never uploaded.
Tip This is a plain-language permission slip, not a contract. Laws on detecting and trespass vary by state, and the owner can withdraw permission at any time.
Before it runs out
Choose 6 months, 1 year, or until the owner says otherwise. From 30 days before the end, the site’s card on the Sites tab says when it expires, and turns red once it has. Tap Renew to get a new slip signed.
Keeping in touch
- Call and Text buttons use the number on the slip.
- Contact log: tap + Log after each call, text or chat to note what was said.
- Finds report: tap Send for a PDF of everything you’ve found there, with photos. Sharing finds is the best way to keep a permission for years.
